Sogestran Finalizes the Acquisition of Reederei Jaegers

Sogestran Group is strengthening its European position in inland waterway transport of liquid bulk cargo. A few months after announcing the merger, Sogestran Group finalized the acquisition of the German company Reederei Jaegers on April 11, 2025, with retroactive effect from January 1, 2025.
The transaction enables Sogestran Group to become the European leader among inland shipping companies transporting liquid bulk goods, with a significant presence on the main European waterways, more than 200 units (self-propelled vessels, pushers and barges), and over 500 crew members.
Long-standing partners through the joint ventures CFT Gaz and Asphatrans, the two groups are now taking a new step in their collaboration.
The Reederei Jaegers group will continue to operate under its own brand.
This acquisition brings changes within the leadership team. Klaus Valentin and Dr. Gunther Jaegers are stepping down from the company with immediate effect. Björn Wilmer – CEO, and Christian Valentin – COO, will successfully lead the company into the future.
All other regular contacts within the Reederei Jaegers group will remain in place to ensure business continuity and a smooth transition.
Through this acquisition, the Sogestran Group strengthens its ability to offer inland waterway transport solutions tailored to the European market, meeting the needs of its international clients. It holds a strategic position to advocate for inland waterway transport issues with administrative bodies and European authorities.
