During its technical shutdown, the maintenance team, led by Louis Lamour, undertook a complete makeover of the pusher’s living quarters. A great project that turned out to be as ambitious as it was unexpected.
A dual objective: comfort and transmission.
These renovations had a twofold purpose, as Louis explains:
"The modifications to the living quarters, over 20 years old, enhance the comfort of our crew members, who stay on board for seven consecutive days, by improving sound and thermal insulation and optimizing natural light. The addition of an extra cabin also reflects our commitment to training the next generation by providing accommodation for interns."

Precision Logistics
To optimize the project, the team removed the entire living block and placed it on the quay. This approach allowed for simultaneous maintenance operations in the Eure’s hull and the refurbishment of the living quarters.
But surprises came quickly! Louis still remembers November 13, 2024:
"While dismantling the block, we discovered that the cement screed had been infiltrated. We had to react quickly and mobilize our contractors to minimize delays. This unexpected challenge highlighted the importance of meticulous planning and strong adaptability."
After repairs, the block was repositioned on the pusher with millimeter precision, thanks to the coordination between the CFT and MEDIACO teams. Before lifting the 26.5-ton block, the MEDIACO team had to ballast the crane with metal plates to ensure a safe operation.

Three Words to Sum Up This Project?
When asked to describe this experience, Louis answers without hesitation: "Innovation, Adventure, People."
- Innovation, because it was his first intervention on living quarters.
- Adventure, due to the unexpected challenges that required quick decisions.
- People, for the positive impact these improvements have on the daily lives of the crew.
-
And the Verdict?
For Louis, there is only one measure of success:
"The smiles and positive feedback from the crew when they saw the finished project."
He extends his gratitude to all internal teams and external contractors who contributed to the various stages of this project.
Meet Louis
Louis joined Sogestran as a maintenance apprentice in 2020 while pursuing his engineering studies. Following his apprenticeship, he was hired as a Works Manager in 2021.
He is responsible for the technical and regulatory oversight of part of the CFT Seine river fleet, which includes:
2 push boats (Intrépide, Clovis)
2 tanker self-propelled vessels (Aurisse, Avesnois)
8 barges (dedicated to chemicals, containers, and heavy cargo)
